MyColors 2.5 Support Thread

With the release of MyColors 2.5 please place all community support items in this thread. This means if you have found a workaround for a problem or want to see if the community has found a solution to your problem please post here. For individual support issues please contact support@stardock.com.

New Features

  • 64-bit Support! (Vista Only)
  • Sub-Style Support!
  • New Wallpaper Tab!

Known Issues

Gadgets on 64-bit Vista do not launch when applying a theme.  They can be launched manually by running them from the shortcut folder created on the desktop. This should be enhanced in the near future.

WindowBlinds 6.1 customers will need to update their version of WindowBlinds to 6.10.084 before (ideally or after) installing MyColors 2.5.

If you are a new user to ObjectDesktop and have installed WindowBlinds over MyColors (fresh install), you may experience issues with MyColors 2.5.  If so, please uninstall WindowBlinds and re-install WindowBlinds 6.10.084 to resolve the issue.

As the thread is here will post this Wallpaper Tab on XP SP3

shows 2 headings

Themed Wallpaper that's empty

Windows Wallpaper that's full of photos from my pictures not windows/Web/wallpaper folder and as far as I can see no way to change where it looks.

I like a clean desktop. Is there any way to get My Colors to NOT place that gadgets icon on the desktop? I am fine with having shortcuts only on the start menu.

DesktopDreams show only as bmp-placeholders (no thumbnails) on the 'Wallpapers' tab.

Not a bug per se but; the preview for the 'Pirates'-theme in the 'More Themes' tab is really bad (out of focus/unsharp)

Under 'Settings' choose 'I want to see advanced options when applying suites'. From now on you will get asked first which parts (wallpaper, WB, Icons, widgets) of the MyColors-suite you want to apply.

Themed will show once you apply a theme.  At this time there is no way to add folders to look in.

Not on my XP applied Rockstar which has 3 wallpapers and Themed Wallpaper still empty

Will check on Lap (Vista) later and see how that looks.

Hi,

I applied think green theme through My colors & then the visual style through Blinds, all is fine except for colores lines in the explorer. I am a noob in matters of skinning. I bought the ultimate just 2-3 days back & the learning curve to use this software has been very difficult for me. So any help welcome. I am a bit flustered with all this versioning/compatibility issues.

Attaching both the system info for my colors & windows blinds

For what it's worth, it's not usually like this.  You just happened to pick a bad week to sign up.  I am very confident that all witll be well soon.

ZubaZ is reminded of a scene from Airplane! - "Man! I picked a bad week to stop sniffing glue")

So I tried out that info today and I could not replicate the problems you are having. Please send in this info to support@stardock.com so we can try to further help you.

Glad to see working 64-bit support for Vista

Hint: the FAQ needs to updated to reflect this: https://www.stardock.com/products/mycolors/FAQ.asp#Q5

Also want to report a minor issue on Vista 64-bit -- whenever I apply a MyColors theme, the full IconPackager application launches, instead of applying the icon package belong to the MyColors theme selected.

I need to manually select it from the list and apply it. This is the same for all MyColors themes.

On 32-bit, MyColors instead directly applies the icons as part of the overall theme.

JordiK - I was able to replicate that problem. It has been sent up to the developers. Thank you much!

...and here I was thinking that this was completely normal.

Another minor nuisance: Whenever I apply a theme through MyColors, my WB-icon in the systray disappears. I always have to open WB using the start-panel and re-apply the tick on 'show icon in the system tray.......'

Just as a question, if you have applied a MyColors theme why do you want the WB system icon showing?

I switch skins fairly often and would like the WB icon available at all times.  (That's why I have it set that way in the WB config)
