Well actually... XP 64 is just Server 2003... with XP user interface options. I wouldn't call XP64 a flop... mainly because when it was released everyone would've never thought you'll use more than 2GB of RAM in a PC... now it's different. In widely PC forums, areas, XP64 is acutally a really heavy used OS.

More or less.. in 6.2 Enhanced XP64 was supported, if 2003 is supported in 6.3 there should be no reason why xp64 shouldn't be compatible as well mainly because like I said, xp64 is server 2003, and the standard server 2003 version is 64-bit.

Now onto my question... with every custom skin I try I lose my top window bar(close, minimize, maximize) I can't even move the window! Only way is to revert back to the XP theme.

Anyone have a solution for this? I've tried everything in the knowledge base as well.

hey me too had same problem after updating the version from 6.3.0.95 to .99 thro stardock central ... i did try a lot to get back that top window bar.... restarted umpteen times nothing worked... then i uninstalled the whole WB  then did separate installation of d previous version of WB  i.e d one it worked perfectly... widout sd central... now it is ok... version which created problem like yours for me is ... 6.3.0.99 d latest ... now i am havin 6.3.0.95... i dunno this is d problem u ve met?... hope it will help you.. plzzz somebody clarify me y it is so?

Modified kernel, not the same. And heavily used isn't the term I'd use, mildly is more suitable.

Now heres an odd one: its been the same on my laptop versions 6.2 and 6.3 - there is a problem with alpha blending on the start menu on most themes. The shadow is solid and there  is no transparency. However, when I mouseover objectdock with the start menu 'up' i see the alphablending kick in - the shadows soften and and the start menu show some level of transparency. I have a dell inspiron 1525 with a relatively crappy intel graphics chipset but it scores 3.1 vista index and can cope with WB. Thanks.

Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

After updating WindowsBlinds to 6.3, it doesn’t apply any skin completely, it just adds some random elements of that skin. When I first encountered it, I was applying LaST skin and thought it was a glitch, so I’ve tried some more skins hoping they will work normally. Now my windows are crapped up with elements of 3+ skins I tried to apply. And every time I start new app, it has some elements of one skin and some of another. Taskbar and start menu was not affected at all, it remains the same as before installing WB 6.3. Any ideas?

Please post your system info from the WB config

UPDATE. Well, that problem occurred the FIRST time I restarted after installing 6.3. When I’ve restarted for second time, the problem disappeared.

Even more, I am pleased that fonts set as larger than usual now display almost correctly, without ripping off all the windows (especially title bars) …

Hi,

I like this very much. Windows blinds is a wonderful way for making our pc more beautiful. I have used a lot of version of this software.

just bought a lovely little samsung nc10 and was wondering if i can use windows blinds with it seeing as its only got a little 10.2" 1024x640 screen. your minimum system requirements say 1024x768 but will it matter?

There appears to be a conflict between the most recent Build (14) of Windows Live Mail (WLM) with the Aero Metal skin for WindowBlinds 6.3 XP SP3.

Ever since I installed the latest Windows Live suite I found that WLM never gets past the sign-in banner. It would immediately minimize to the system tray and I could not open my inbox (or the main program window), though I could send mail and view contacts.

This frustrated me since I use WLM to handle all my non-work-related email and I really don't have the time to set up a new mail client.

Running a clean boot from msconfig isolated the problem to WindowBlinds. Prior to doing so, I had excluded WLM from being skinned by WindowBlinds and I had even unloaded WindowBlinds, yet the WLM problem prevailed. I then discovered that I had to change the skin away from Aero Metal and then restart the PC in order for WLM to work as normal. What's strange is that out of the dozen skins I tested, only Aero Metal (that's packaged with WindowBlinds) produced this problem. I'm now using the Aura skin but with the Aero Metal taskbar and start menu enabled and everything's working as per normal.

I'd really like to know if this problem is reproducible on someone else's PC and it's not just my bad luck that I'm the only one in the world experiencing this.

Thanks,
Vince

Some of the applicatin settings will be unavailable at that resolution.  Can you scroll the desktop?  I know there are other apps that allow that.

ran the latest update of windowblinds 6.3 on impulse, rebooted and got the message that WB was missing a core dll and I had to reinstall it.  I'm going to be reinstalling 6.0 because 6.3 still won't display the material in what used to be called the xpstuff.xp file with older skins.  WB 6.0 won't work with Firefox 3 but no matter, the last time I installed Firefox 3 it crashed anyway -- toolbar didn't have a back arrow in it and when I tried to put one in via customize, CRASH!

Moral:  Neil, WB's problems in versions past 6.0 can't compare with the Mozilla crew's problems in Firefox 3, so don't feel bad.  At least you folks at Stardock don't insist on installing later WB versions without my permission, unlike the Mozilla folks.

All of the tiny font problems have been solved however by getting a 24 inch BenQ flat screen that displays at 1980x1024 and running it off DVI instead of VGA.  Tiny fonts are still small but I can read 'em now.

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 6.3 (build 67 x86)

Similar problem here on xp x64, WB v6.2 (rollback from 6.3), so far no solution.

I have posted on this issue already, but there was no help in sight.

Found this post finally, an I'm glad that I'm not the only one.

And me too, I'm annoyed, that the x64 support has vanished just from one update to another.
