When Object Desktop 2009 is released, this is where the known issues will be posted.  Please post your findings here as well.  Thank you!

Notes and Known Issues: (all issues are being worked on at this time)

Theme Manager 3.0 (Published at 11am)

  • Aero Midnight theme included as a .suite file for Object Desktop customers.
  • My Desktop / Save My Desktop: Dreams, skins and cursors sometimes do apply when saved as part of a suite.  Please apply through the Applications tab as a workaround at this time.
  • Applications / Cursors: Sometimes cursors take two applies before applying.
  • My Desktop / Create New Theme: The Download URL function is not working at this time.
  • Please update SoundPackager before applying sounds through Theme Manager 3.0.
  • Users will need to open SoundPackager one time to have sound packages show up in Theme Manager 3.0.
  • Fixed - On systems that do not have MyColors installed, an error about the StardockWeather.ocx file not being registered will display when applying weather gadgets.
  • The Aero Midnight skin does not extract and apply 100% of the time on faster hardware.

Deskscapes 2.5 (with XP support published at 1pm)

  • With a Dream file applied dragging and dropping icons from the desktop to a folder does not work at this time.
  • Please visit this web site to review video card requirement details.  In short, AGP Video cards are not supported at this time.  Future driver updates from NVIDIA/ATI will add support later this year.  At that time only AGP 8x will be supported (4x/2x/1x bus speeds are not adequate to support dream functionality at low CPU).
  • The Watercolor Dream may exhibit some distortion on Windows XP.

Bootskin Pro 1.0 (published at 6:30pm)

  • There is a new WinCustomize gallery for Windows Vista bootskins.  Boot skins created for XP will not work with Bootskin Pro.
  • Bootskin Pro allows users to create boot skins for Windows Vista, so boot skins created for XP can be re-generated and uploaded to WinCustomize.
  • Bootskin Pro Create boot skin tab will attempt to read your Object Desktop Ultimate serial from the registry.  If the serial number field is blank, paste in your Object Desktop Ultimate serial number to create a boot skin.
  • There may be an issue with .bootskin file associations on some systems.

WindowBlinds 6.3 (published on 11/18/2008)

  • Windows Vista 64-bit users may need to reboot after install if skins do not apply correctly.

Vista 32 Bit SP1 did update still not working? Bootskin app

What version are you running?

If you were having problems applying Aero Midnight skin, please update Theme Manager and try again.

I've been researching the procedure for replacing the boot image, and it seems the location of the file differs depending on the locale, which may explain why it doesn't show up properly on my swedish Vista x64.

I have a feeling it currently works properly on a US version of vista only... (Atleast when it comes to the non-ultimate versions).

It's just a guess though, don't flame me if I'm wrong

The skin now applys properly, thankyou, though the other issue of the Gadgets not loading still applies. Basically if you choose the RSS Reader, Weather or the Clock gadget they do not load either

Another issue, why does Boot Skin want to connect to Stardock and upload the images etc we create? I am using a non royalty/copyright free image that I do not want published. This thing of having it upload it to yourselves is breaking copyright, especially if you then publish it. Why can we not just create a Boot Skin and leave it at that? I do not want to upload all my creations to yourselves in order to create my own.

Second issue, when I have finally allowed everything and try to apply it, I get the error message "There was an error while applying <name of skin>" I have tried 3 times and each one gives the same error when trying to apply.

Be sure that you have the latest update for BootSkin Pro.  There was an issue with applying BootSkins for 64-bit versions of Windows.

The Bootskin Pro issue on 64-bit has been resolved. A build is being published at this moment. Please let us know if it works for you.

Nope!  Just downloaded and tried it but I still get the error notice and skin does not apply.... Vista Home Premium X64 SP1

I believe it is an automated resize/assembler to make making boot skins easier. I do not believe they cashe the Images for storage, distributin, nor to Publish.

Images upload for BootSkin creation are not kept and are not used by us except to create a BootSkin that is then downloaded by you.  The files are deleted off the server.

I'm well aware of that, it doesn't work.

on Nov 20, 2008

The creation of the .bootskin files requires code which is not distributed as part of the BootSkin program. Therefore, the images must be sent to the server for processing.

Stardock has no interest in the images that you upload. They are deleted immediately after processing. The boot skins are deleted within two days (so that low-bandwidth users have sufficient time to download them).

Skins will only be distributed to others if you upload the finished product to the WinCustomize library.

IP4's shell icon folder replacement stopped working after I allowed Impulse to update to the current non-beta version & installed Deskscapes (which doesn't work - see reply #104).  Didn't touch IP4.

XPP SP2.  WB 6.30.104, WFX running.  FYI SD.

OK thanks or clearing the upload thing out for me, maybe there should be some sort of disclaimer before hand explaining this the first time you create one?

Next issue is to why I cannot apply any that I create, nor for that matter any that are supplied with that app.

I downloaded it via impulse and have gotten the updated version. I even tried uninstalling it, rebooting and getting it again with a reboot inbetween and still have the same issue it will just not apply anything, just gives the error message
