Post your thoughts, questions, issues with Object Desktop 2009 here.

When Object Desktop 2009 is released, this is where the known issues will be posted.  Please post your findings here as well.  Thank you!

Notes and Known Issues: (all issues are being worked on at this time)

Theme Manager 3.0 (Published at 11am)

  • Aero Midnight theme included as a .suite file for Object Desktop customers.
  • My Desktop / Save My Desktop: Dreams, skins and cursors sometimes do apply when saved as part of a suite.  Please apply through the Applications tab as a workaround at this time.
  • Applications / Cursors: Sometimes cursors take two applies before applying.
  • My Desktop / Create New Theme: The Download URL function is not working at this time.
  • Please update SoundPackager before applying sounds through Theme Manager 3.0.
  • Users will need to open SoundPackager one time to have sound packages show up in Theme Manager 3.0.
  • Fixed - On systems that do not have MyColors installed, an error about the StardockWeather.ocx file not being registered will display when applying weather gadgets.
  • The Aero Midnight skin does not extract and apply 100% of the time on faster hardware.

Deskscapes 2.5 (with XP support published at 1pm)

  • With a Dream file applied dragging and dropping icons from the desktop to a folder does not work at this time.
  • Please visit this web site to review video card requirement details.  In short, AGP Video cards are not supported at this time.  Future driver updates from NVIDIA/ATI will add support later this year.  At that time only AGP 8x will be supported (4x/2x/1x bus speeds are not adequate to support dream functionality at low CPU).
  • The Watercolor Dream may exhibit some distortion on Windows XP.

Bootskin Pro 1.0 (published at 6:30pm)

  • There is a new WinCustomize gallery for Windows Vista bootskins.  Boot skins created for XP will not work with Bootskin Pro.
  • Bootskin Pro allows users to create boot skins for Windows Vista, so boot skins created for XP can be re-generated and uploaded to WinCustomize.
  • Bootskin Pro Create boot skin tab will attempt to read your Object Desktop Ultimate serial from the registry.  If the serial number field is blank, paste in your Object Desktop Ultimate serial number to create a boot skin.
  • There may be an issue with .bootskin file associations on some systems.

WindowBlinds 6.3 (published on 11/18/2008)

  • Windows Vista 64-bit users may need to reboot after install if skins do not apply correctly.

I downloaded it via impulse and have gotten the updated version.
Which version?  they are being pumped out very quickly to address issues as they come up.

Next issue is to why I cannot apply any that I create, nor for that matter any that are supplied with that app.

I downloaded it via impulse and have gotten the updated version. I even tried uninstalling it, rebooting and getting it again with a reboot inbetween and still have the same issue it will just not apply anything, just gives the error message

Give them time, I think I was one of the first to send off a support ticket and that was wayy late last nite. So as far as I know they have not had alot of time to work on it, but they have gotten it to work for many more of us. I wager their working their fingers to the bone trynig to get the Fix out ASAP.

IP4's shell icon folder replacement stopped working after I allowed Impulse to update to the current non-beta version & installed Deskscapes (which doesn't work - see reply #104). Didn't touch IP4.

XPP SP2. WB 6.30.104, WFX running. FYI SD.

Uninstalling Deskscapes via Impulse restores IP4's shell icon replacement functionality.

Just wanted to thank Zargon and the Team for all their hard work. They've provided an solution or explanation for all my issues.

Having trouble with Deskscapes 2.5. I'm able to load the .Dream files, but when I opt to use any of them (normal or dynamic) my icons disappear and are replaced by diagonal colored lines which run the width of the screen. Disabling my desktop icons corrects the display issue, but I'd prefer if the program worked as intended. Any thoughts? OS: XP SP3 Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon x2300 128MB, PCIe Most recent drivers installed Direct X 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Intervideo Video Decoder v. 5.0.11.1176 Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Zargon did you see the screenies above that show tabs in the Impulse beta? With AGP card, when tried to launch a dream from Theme manager nothing happened. When tried to launch theme from desktop properties/deskscapes, I got an error messag about the AGP card and redirected to a page that explained the issue.

If you click Yes on the dialog that warns you about the AGP card, the dream should apply.

Thanks for all of your help and sorry your are so swamped.  I clicked "yes" and dreams that came with DeskScapes work fine, and no high cpu usage.

At least for now my nVidia GeForce 7300GT AGP 8X card with 512Mb and DirectX9.0c seem to be fine.  Here is a shot of task manager performance.

Do you have just the one monitor enabled and what resolution are you using?

Also are you in 32 bit colour depth?

Version was given in my original post BSP build 1.00.027 I checked before I posted again now and there is no newer version

Actually version 1.00.028 is available. It didn't resolve the issue for me though, perhaps it will for you.

on Nov 20, 2008

not seeing 1.00.028 have rebooted and ran Impulse again, even uninstalled Impulse and tried again Impulse is at version 3.10.330 (Images 3.02.171) (Build 942)

This is where I miss SDC, IMO it was far superior to impulse

Open the preferences page in impulse and choose "reset data", that should hopefully be enough.

@ Neil Banfield:

The laptop is connected to a port replicator with only the external (primary) display active at 1600 x 1200 resolution, 32-bit depth. Honestly, I haven't tried it on the notebook's LCD yet. I'll give that a shot and see if there's any difference.

Sadly this didn't work either It asked me to restart as there were updates to Impulse, it now shows 3.10.330 (images 3.10.174) (build 942) so only the images seems to have changed. However Bootskin Pro did not show as needing an update so I uninstalled it and then reinstalled I got the same version again 1.00.027

It seems Theme Manager was updated on 11/20 - and that release fixed the issue I had with trying to apply the Windowsblind portion of Suites and Themes - hope it worked for others as well. Thanks for the quick response Stardock!

@ Neil -
Honestly, I haven't tried it on the notebook's LCD yet. I'll give that a shot and see if there's any difference.

No luck on the standalone notebook, either. I get the same problem running at 1440 x 900. Also, for what it's worth, I disable my desktop icons to get the .Dream running. After minimizing a full-screen window, the .Dream is gone and replaced with a solid-color desktop.
Any ideas?
