If I purchased object Desktop 2007 about 8 months ago, I get a free upgrade to 2008 Ultimate?
Yes.  If you install impulse and go to the registration tab you should see your Ultimate serial

What is impulse?

Sorry for my ignorance.

My SDC is/was not updating for the new stuff (at all). I even went as far as reinstalling...then it updated, to the same version I had before I removed it. I was excited, to say the least, but then I opened it, and to my surprise..same old window.

Didn't seem right...so went looking around...

I had to come here to get the Impulse...and I only found this by chance.

well at least I have it now...maybe Stardock needs to post the link to the Impulse like Zubaz did, some place - so others, in case they have the same problem like I did...so they can find it to.

Thanks Zubaz...helped bunches
if I didn't find it like I did, I'd still be waiting on the fence...
(oh and thanks to Zargon0225 for starting this thread so I could find it!)

Yes, this is also the ONLY place I could find impulse. Using the websites search engine is pretty useless.

Also, how come after installing impulse and updating everything there is no mention of "2008" anywhere. I would figure it would be somewhere after upgrading.

ODNT2008 is just a snapshot of what is available now.  It's not an app, it's a name of the subscription.

Impulse is going to be bigger than just ODNT.

Yes, this is also the ONLY place I could find impulse. Using the websites search engine is pretty useless. Why would it not be visible in the updates in Star Dock Central? Also, shouldn't it uninstall SDC before or after impulse is installed since SDC at that point would be redundant?

Thanks

Impulse is still in a beta phase.  The power users will find it and test it out.  SDC is still the official digital distribution app.  I think that once Impulse is vetted it will get more focus.

Also, it works fine running along side of impulse so there is no need to uninstall at this point.

Well i recently purchased Object Desktop 2008. Installation craps itself pretty soon after starting install. This is the error:

"The installation of Impulse (a pre-requisite to Object Desktop) failed.

This may be because a previous installation of Impulse has not been fully uninstalled. Please uninstall Impulse if a previous install existed."

I find it hard to believe since i have never had Impulse on my computer. So i go to the control panel and uninstall the Impulse item and then try again. And yet again, the same error comes up when i try to install Object Desktop

Might be time to email support@stardock.com then.
They'll help you out.

Does anyone happen to know if 64 bit support for MyColors is in the works now seeing how a lot of the issues for 32 bit have been ironed out? Or perhaps a beta for us OD subscribers?

I tried again and didn't bother changing the installation directory and all is good

Because of the launch of OD2008, I finally decided to download Impulse and give it a try, especially since IconPackager4 is available only there.

On the Updates page, Impulse noted correctly that I had an older version of IP and informed me that the new IP was available.

I clicked on update, and was promptly informed that "The registration you have entered is invalid. Please check your selected product, email address and and serial number and then try again."

Since the email address and serial number for ObjectDesktop Ultimate are the same ones I find in the email from Stardock confirming my renewed ObjectDesktop subscription as of 10-25-07, and the product was the one Impulse offered to me for download, I'm not really sure what to do at this point.

I did notice that, under Registrations, IconPackager has a different serial number than my ObjectDesktop subscription, but it won't let me change the IP serial number to match.

Am I mistaken or shouldn't the OD Ultimate subscription and serial number allow me to upgrade ALL of the programs?

Breathless19 & Zubaz... thanks for the discussion on IMPULSE, without it I never would have found it. OK, StarDock guys, some gripes and kudos... did a clean install of ODNT2008, laptop crashed, and every thing updated well, DirectX 3.5 was on a loop d/l DX.SDC file, so I stopped. Expected that with the update Impulse found for ThemeManager there might have been support for CursorFX, nope it's stuck on CursorXP! Where's the LogOnStudio for XP? Stardock site drives me to CNET.com    Now for a really BIG kudo, after Impulse is installed, the update button works correctly with ODNT2008.  All in all I'm pleases with the upgrade to 2008, keep up the good work and keep the gripes small

do we have to buy OD 2008 if we already have OD 2007 or is there an upgrade for past customers?

or is there some kind of update to get OD 2007 to work on vista?
