do we have to buy OD 2008 if we already have OD 2007 or is there an upgrade for past customers?

If you're subscription is active, you're ok. If it was current prior to launch, you should have automatically been upgraded to the Ultimate version. Load up Impulse and check your Registrations tab.

i don't know if it's active or not. I'm pretty sure it is. I can't load OD on my computer because i have vista loaded. That's why i'm asking here.

A lot of the programs work on Vista already.

OD, objectdock or ODNT, ObjectDesktop?
OD works in Vista and most of the ODNT apps run on Vista too

Because of the launch of OD2008, I finally decided to download Impulse and give it a try, especially since IconPackager4 is available only there. On the Updates page, Impulse noted correctly that I had an older version of IP and informed me that the new IP was available.I clicked on update, and was promptly informed that "The registration you have entered is invalid. Please check your selected product, email address and and serial number and then try again."Since the email address and serial number for ObjectDesktop Ultimate are the same ones I find in the email from Stardock confirming my renewed ObjectDesktop subscription as of 10-25-07, and the product was the one Impulse offered to me for download, I'm not really sure what to do at this point.I did notice that, under Registrations, IconPackager has a different serial number than my ObjectDesktop subscription, but it won't let me change the IP serial number to match.Am I mistaken or shouldn't the OD Ultimate subscription and serial number allow me to upgrade ALL of the programs?

Sounds like you may have a registration issue.  Please contact support@stardock.com for assistence.

Does anyone happen to know if 64 bit support for MyColors is in the works now seeing how a lot of the issues for 32 bit have been ironed out? Or perhaps a beta for us OD subscribers?

We are currently working on that.

Well i recently purchased Object Desktop 2008. Installation craps itself pretty soon after starting install. This is the error:"The installation of Impulse (a pre-requisite to Object Desktop) failed. This may be because a previous installation of Impulse has not been fully uninstalled. Please uninstall Impulse if a previous install existed."I find it hard to believe since i have never had Impulse on my computer. So i go to the control panel and uninstall the Impulse item and then try again. And yet again, the same error comes up when i try to install Object Desktop

Phalaxis,

Even after you uninstalled Impulse it failed?  Try downloading just the full Impulse installer and run it (link provided below).  The first time your run it the installer should prompt to repair/uninstall, select uninstall.  Then run the Impulse installer again and let us know how that goes.  Then you try running ODNT 2008.

The next time after i uninstalled Impulse then tried again, i didn't change the default installation directories and it worked.

I have noticed in the past Stardock programs HATE IT when you change their default installation directories.

Not sure if this is the right post for this or not... I've installed Impulse and ODNT (OD2008) and most of the applets for themes (ThemeManager, WindowBlinds, IconPackager, ObjectDock SoundPackager and CursorFX). Big gripe is Theme Manager (TM) does not recognize BootSkin, LogonStudio or Cursor FX. Secondly, TM (as installed) does not change WindowBlinds or IconPackager. Should I uninstall TM delete the themes and try to reinstll them?
on Apr 15, 2008
Bootskin is unsupported.
LogonStudio and CursorFX aren't part of TM.  Just one of those things.  I guess they've never been part of the "core" of skinning.

TM should be changing WB and IP.  What theme (suite) are you trying to apply?

Last question, are you talking about MyColors Theme Manager or (for lack of a better word) "classic" TM?

Generally I like the new Impulse and MyColors software very much, but I've got some concerns too, predominantly with MyColors at the moment - I'd put it in a MyColors forum if I could find one, but since its all part and parcel of the new OD, I figure this is a good place to add the concerns.

a) When you first announced the new packages (OD2008 and OD Ultimate) you stated that OD subscribers would be getting MyColors + 3 Premium MyColors themes. So far, I've only found the Quest one (with no indication even if it is a Premium, or just one added to give the user a MyColors theme to initially use).

When browsing MyColors themes, you have the demo pics looking very good, but you seem to ignore the fact that many people have widescreen PCs (and particularly laptops) these days... but you never mention if a MyColors theme has widescreen backgrounds (currently getting round it by telling it to crop top and bottom the desktop background for my 1280x800 laptop).

c) MyColors Cosmos theme has problems. Its Weather Gadget crashes when you change to a different MyColors theme (hasn't happened with the other MyColors themes I bought), when purchasing Winter Wonderland, Aquamarine, and Cosmos together, WW and Aqua both added themselves to Impulse/MyColors the moment I told them to re-login, but Cosmos refuses to appear until manually added to MyColors, it doesn't appear in the MyColors list of products to register in Impulse, and for the final point, see (d). Anyway, you get the gist.

d) There seems to be no logic to the gadgets which come with the MyColors themes. Every theme except Cosmos has come with a clock so far (why has it been left out of Cosmos?), some have Calendar but no Weather, some have Weather but no Calendar, I assume some come with Windows Media Player skins, but I've yet to see one... basically, can't we at least have a baseline of Gadgets for these themes? Clock, Calendar, and Weather are the obvious basic gadgets I'd have expected with any theme, given they are purchased.

e) Will we be getting MyColors themes with Deskscape dreams as the backgrounds?

f) for all of us not in the states, can we have some way to tell it we have no need or wish to see US University/Baseball/American Football/etc themes... ever. And giving the way the MyColors themes list is currently dominated by those, any chance of getting a lot more annual event/Inspired/etc ones to counter-act this deluge?

Gods, thats a lot more than I intended to write, but I guess its a start.

Thank you for you time and patience in developing such wonderful software, and thank you in advance for your responses.

Yours,

Ann-Marie

PS. (g) Why is it I have to tell each themes Weather Gadget my home location again... they obviously all use the same coding/gadget behind the front-end graphics, so why can't they just check for a MyColors theme global setting to see what I set as a base location?

Quest is just a freebie for everyone.  The ODNT one will come throughout your subscription.

I believe the wallpapers created thus far are in line with the majority of users.  Good suggestion to have a widescreen option though.

I can't comment on your other items.

Is that a case of 'will be' coming through the subscription, or 'is'? Because as yet I've no found any way to chose any 3 Premium skins as free.
