Please use this thread for IconPackager v4.0 Support Issues
Published on May 13, 2008 By Zargon In IconPackager

All,

With IconPackager v4.0 being released tomorrow, I am creating this thread to house support for the newly released product.

At this time there are no known issues for either 32-bit or 64-bit.

For all of those who have reported and tested issues on 64-bit we thank you for your time and support.

Regards,

Zargon

How to save as a new package after recoloring one

Still waiting on that myself. It's creating dup. files of colored ones , but won't apply them. Also, sometimes it changes a total of 2 of my desktop icons, trash and my computer. Is this because it's not a Vista ready package,or do I have a setting wrong?

Am attempting to change the icon on a specific file type (winzip) file properties so it will display correctly. Under current icon package 'zip' files display as 'txt' files.

When attempting to correct the display file type I get the following error message after I click on 'apply':

"Windows cannot find 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Date\Stardock\IconPackager\Activate.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start Button, and then click Search."

Have checked and there is no 'Activate.exe' file displayed in the above mentioned directory. Have found an 'Activate.exe' file in other directories (C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\IconPager) and in other C:\Program Files\Stardock directories though.

How can I go about correcting this error?

Current IconPackger version is: 4.00.163 (x86)

There was no answer for #30, though i re ask:

1°) How to change language efficiently ?

2°) How to save as a new package after recoloring one, and in the path defined in options (for me: E:\Stardock\Object Desktop\IconPackager\Themes WINXP )

Thanks Seabass!

Just to let you know, it's really nice when someone connected to the development of these apps acknowledges the problems being seen and posts a progress report.

Sadly, there is often no acknowledgment of the problem, much less an informational update. I feel that may discourage some from providing any feedback at all with the thought that no one is listening. Not a good outcome for users or developers.  (

Karma to you, young man!

Glad to hear, as I was coming here to report icon packager hell after purchasing the entire suite a day or so before 4.0.xxx came out, having it work for one day on 3.99.xx and now it fails after the update. It loads, I can 'browse' packages, but as soon as I try to apply one it locks up.. I can't uninstall it properly (Impulse nor SDC will take it off properly) I also show 'icon packager' and 'icon packager 4' in my SDC (I am using Impulse for all odj dsktp updates, I have been reading here the past day or so). I can't use theme manager, for obvious reasons (soon as it wants to do icons, it 'locks' all sorts of things up... I feel crippled after spending $70, but glad to hear a 'fix' might be here soon.

What method can I use to open a ticket if this fix doesn't seem to patch me up, or if you guys think I have a bigger problem then this next patch might fix? (something go screwy in my reg from having a shareware, to 3.99, then to 4.xx in about 1-2 days time? I just rebuilt this PC about 3 weeks ago, and am not looking forward to 2 days worth of downloads after a OS rebuild if my windows got hosed somehow.

Keep us posted, and as a few folks said - glad to head something from the dev people!

I used the brute force method: I added the .exe files for Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word to the list.

Thanks again, JeffBDVS -

Making those changes restored the msconfig UI and stopped a problem I was having with IE6 doing the same thing - I was finding multiple instances of IE running in TaskManager with no open IE windows & getting IE hangs on shutdown without IE windows open. I have no doubt that was also what was causing MSPaint's UI to fail to appear on my Win2k rig a couple of years ago - I've been using the 'Repair all shell icons' setting forever.

I really appreciate your having sorted out the problem and offered your help. This was a long-term frustration.

I'm glad I could help, Daiwa.

I've been hoping that the IP developers would get the exclusion list working for the "Repair all processes" option. Then I could add the few problem programs (like msconfig, mspaint, etc.) to the exclusion list and iprepair.dll do its thing for all the rest.

I've always been able to add stuff to the exclusion list, but IP has always ignored the list.

neophil - you might be better off starting a new thread about your issues/questions, as they seem to be getting lost among all of the other problems in this "support" thread.
